Creative solutions for authors and businesses

A freelance copy editor you can trust

As an author myself, I know that your manuscript is personal to you and is something that you will feel very protective of.  Trust is an essential part of how I work. I'm a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and complete all work in line with their code of practice.
Thorough copy editing and proofreading ensures your work is free from hidden errors while retaining your unique voice and style. Whether you need a detailed edit or a final proofread before sending your work to a publisher, you can be assured that anything you send will be treated with care and respect, regardless of length or genre. Proofreading is also useful for students and academic documents, ensuring your work is presented professionally and is factually correct. It can also prevent embarrassing mistakes in marketing material.

Connect with your audience on social media

Social media has become an important tool for authors and businesses. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have made it easier for you to connect with potential and existing customers, so it's essential that your channels are kept up to date.
Whether you need additional support managing your pages or simply unsure how to get started, my social media management service helps your to understand the world of hashtags, sponsored adverts, and comments, whilst also helping you to keep on top of your posts. You can also combine social media with blog posts to ensure your pages never run out of content.

The DBE Story

I started writing novels at the age of 16 with the dream to have one published. This dream came true in 2015 with Heartbound, a paranormal fiction story about friendship and coping with grief. Having approached publishers with little success, I decided to take the bold step and self-publish. I can safely say this was one of the best decisions I have made!

At the time, I was in my third and final year of studying journalism at Coventry University. As I came to the end of my degree, I quickly realised that journalism was not my true calling. I was promoting Heartbound through social media and the occasional press release and found that I was getting some positive results. This, in turn, encouraged me to set up D. Burton Editing.

I've not looked back since!
