West Midlands-based Tappy Twins is an interactive online community that helps children and young people overcome traumatic experiences and cope with anxiety through the use of EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques. I started working with Tappy Twins by writing press releases to get the company’s message out into the media spotlight, but now my role is growing, as well as the company itself.
Tappy Twins owner Suzanne Skeete has already received high praise for her work from the schools that she works with. These schools invite her in to teach youngsters about coping with stress and anxiety, which is all the more vital when exams come around. As Suzanne’s reputation and relationship with her clients grew, one of her colleagues informed her of a project that could help Tappy Twins reach out beyond the West Midlands. That’s where I come in!
Recently, I have been starting to toy with the idea of offering social media services alongside my copy editing, blogs, and press release services. I have built up a strong knowledge of using social media for marketing Heartbound, and so I approached Suzanne about managing Tappy Twins’ social media platforms. Shortly after shaking hands with Suzanne, I suddenly found myself running a PR campaign.
In order to help Tappy Twins grow still further, Suzanne applied for funding from the Pitch to Rich project, ran by Virgin Business. This project allows businesses to pitch for funding from Sir Richard Branson himself! In order to receive this great opportunity, Tappy Twins had to create a short video and written pitch and get the public to vote for this pitch.
Tappy Twins will use the £250 000 campaign to expand into schools all across the UK and the online community, Tappy Town, will also be able to be manned 24/7. This will allow Tappy Twins to continue their mission of helping children to “feel good fast” and become the best possible person they can be. Though Tappy Twins is primarily aimed at younger children, Suzanne hopes that the service will also be beneficial to youngsters up to the age of sixteen.
I helped Suzanne with planning social media and blog content. I scheduled regular Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn content to promote the work that Suzanne does with Tappy Twins as well as encouraging people to vote for their pitch. Not only that, but I have also put together a radio piece for the same purpose. It has been a fantastic experience for me as well as a steep learning curve; social media can be fast-paced and you have to be on the ball.
Tappy Twins has received glowing testimonials, and I am so honoured to be working with Suzanne in getting Tappy Twins even more recognition. There is still time for you to get your votes in, with the deadline for all voting 5 May 2015. You can vote easily online at http://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/pitch-to-rich/grow/tappy-twins/.
